Theme Parties: Networking 101 There are theme parties and then there are theme parties. Take the theme parties put on by designer marketing agency Conversation. They’ve thrown bashes celebrating their various brand achievements and past themes include Guitar Man and Mustaches. Their latest party celebrated the end of summer and featured lots of cocktails, live entertainment and plenty of music.
For New Yorkers wanting to get on the theme party train, the Big Apple has plenty of venues to work for any theme to your liking.
The Celeb Party: Beyonce just turned 29 and, of course, hubby Jay-Z threw her a party to remember in NYC. For the bash, he rented out the soon-to-be-opened restaurant The Darby, filled it with orchids, celebs (Kanye West, P Diddy, Serena Williams and Alicia Keyes) and a six-layer cake. So, you may not have the bank account of Jay-Z or Beyonce, but you can still party like a celeb.
For the Celeb-themed party, you might not go the full Jay-Z route and rent an entire eatery, but you can go out with some celeb favorite restaurants like Angus McIndoe (near Broadway and full of Broadway actors types), The Breslin (in the Ace Hotel from the same cats that did Spotted Pig), The Waverly.
The Casino Party: A great way to throw the not-your-usual party for a large group of people where there’s something for everyone. Either plan one at home or let the party people do it for you in a private room such as the NYC speakeasy The Gin Mill or Pulse. Whether it be Texa Hold’Em or Black Jack or Roulette, everyone is sure to have fun. Makes sure to have a well-stocked bar and some kickin’ tunes.
The SATC Party: For those fashionistas and appletini fans. Follow in the footsteps of Carrie & Co. Bring your girl pals for a little shoe shopping a the Manolo boutique on West 54th and 5th Ave, which of course is prime shopping destination that boasts Bergdorf Goodman’s and Sak’s as its neighbor. And for the ultimate SATC night out, head to the infamous Plaza hotel and party the night away. Or come up with your own theme party. Afterall, everything's possible in New York.

Happy Birthday to:
Kobe Bryant -August 23,1978
Blake Lively -August 25, 1987
Rachel Bilson August 25, 1981
Gene Simmons- August 25, 1949
Shania Twain- August 28, 1965 This week is a big birthday week for young Hollywood starlets. Gossip Girl star and New York scene staple, Blake Lively is turning 23, Rachel Bilson is 29, and True Blood’s sexy vampire Eric Alexander Skarsgard turned 34 . While Skarsgard is in Sweden, and Lively is busy filming, Bilson actually managed to spend some downtime on the beaches of Hawaii with her family.
In New York, a party of another sort will be getting started. This Sunday, American club Dj and producer extraordinaire Junior Vasquez will be throwing a birthday bash of his own. We know Sunday mornings don’t exactly spell party, unless you’re still up from Saturday’s night on the town, but this birthday is something not to be missed. Starting at 11 a.m. sharp at Love nightclub, “Junior’s Birthday Trip” will have the birthday boy himself at the turntable after Ruben Vega gets the party started. Expect the party to last well after the sun goes down.
The club birthday is a popular choice for New Yorkers and celebs alike. You don’t have to go far to find a club to celebrate your birthday or a friend’s. Here a few staple that are frequented by the rich, famous, and not-so-famous.
Greenhouse: Sure, getting through the door may be like getting into the Playboy mansion, but it’s definitely worth it. Greenhouse, like the name says, is one of NYC’s first green-engineered and built club. It’s got a futuristic meets hippie vibe in a comfy space and loads of great tunes. Boom Boom Room: Anything on top of the Standard Hotel will not disappoint. Located in NYC’s premiere club destination, the Meatpacking District, Boom Boom attracts the likes of A-listers (Madonna, Justin Timberlake, and Jude Law, to name a few). The décor is to die for – floor-to ceiling windows, transparent floors, a huge bar and a hotub in the middle of it all.
Kenmare: The offspring of the kings of the clubscene, Paul Sevigny, Nur Khan and Joey Campanaro. Kenmare is part bar, part lounge with a Mediterranean menu. And although, not technically a club, there’s plenty of late night partying going on. And the list goes on, all you need to do is get out there and see for yourself.
