Happy Birthday to: Actress Evan Rachel Wood – September 7, 1987 Adam Sandler- September 9, 1966 Actress Michelle Williams – September 9, 1980 Ryan Phillippe – September 10, 1974 Rapper Ludacris- September 11, 1977 Theme Parties: Networking 101 There are theme parties and then there are theme parties. Take the theme parties put on by designer marketing agency Conversation. They’ve thrown bashes celebrating their various brand achievements and past themes include Guitar Man and Mustaches. Their latest party celebrated the end of summer and featured lots of cocktails, live entertainment and plenty of music. For New Yorkers wanting to get on the theme party train, the Big Apple has plenty of venues to work for any theme to your liking. The Celeb Party: Beyonce just turned 29 and, of course, hubby Jay-Z threw her a party to remember in NYC. For the bash, he rented out the soon-to-be-opened restaurant The Darby, filled it with orchids, celebs (Kanye West, P Diddy, Serena Williams and Alicia Keyes) and a six-layer cake. So, you may not have the bank account of Jay-Z or Beyonce, but you can still party like a celeb. For the Celeb-themed party, you might not go the full Jay-Z route and rent an entire eatery, but you can go out with some celeb favorite restaurants like Angus McIndoe (near Broadway and full of Broadway actors types), The Breslin (in the Ace Hotel from the same cats that did Spotted Pig), The Waverly. The Casino Party: A great way to throw the not-your-usual party for a large group of people where there’s something for everyone. Either plan one at home or let the party people do it for you in a private room such as the NYC speakeasy The Gin Mill or Pulse. Whether it be Texa Hold’Em or Black Jack or Roulette, everyone is sure to have fun. Makes sure to have a well-stocked bar and some kickin’ tunes. The SATC Party: For those fashionistas and appletini fans. Follow in the footsteps of Carrie & Co. Bring your girl pals for a little shoe shopping a the Manolo boutique on West 54th and 5th Ave, which of course is prime shopping destination that boasts Bergdorf Goodman’s and Sak’s as its neighbor. And for the ultimate SATC night out, head to the infamous Plaza hotel and party the night away. Or come up with your own theme party. Afterall, everything's possible in New York.
