NYC offers so many options for whatever you are looking to do over the summer. Whether its enjoy the rooftop views, the water, museums (air conditioning!) or lay in the sun NYC has something for everyone. Some of the best activities and fun in NYC over the summer are listed below. The Annual Macys July 4th Fireworks Show: The amazing Macys July 4th fireworks show is one of the best times in NYC over the summer. The spectacular fireworks show lights up the Hudson River. Each year they improve the show with bigger, brighter and higher fireworks, increasing the visibility of the show for millions more spectators. During the show there is music played by different orchestras and vocal groups. There is nothing better than a warm night in NYC watching a beautiful firework show with family, friends and loved ones. This is truly a highlight of spending the summer in NYC. Central Park: Central Park is one of the best places in NYC. It allows you to escape the city feeling while still being in NYC. Central Park is the perfect spot to be outdoors over the summer. Whether you are taking a boat ride, lounging, having a picnic, walking your dog, playing sports or having lunch you are able to enjoy the outdoors within the city limits. Over the summer Central Park is also the host to some amazing and fun concerts, so checking the event schedule there can allow you to see some great bands and musicians for free! Bryant Park Movies: Over the summer Bryant Park shows great films outdoors. You can enjoy a picnic with friends while watching an outdoor film! This is a truly unique way to spend a day in NYC. The HBO Bryant Park Summer Film Festival is a New York summer tradition. The films are projected onto a huge screen, but get there early to set up and get the best view of the film! Festivals: The summertime is when all the best festivals around the city take place. Everyone comes out of hibernation and enjoys the outdoor festivals. One great festival is the Little Italy Summer Festival. They close down the street for traffic, and the streets are filled with merchants, selling food, wine, deserts, jewelry, clothing and much more! There is also the River to River Festival, which is a celebration featuring free music, dance and cultural programs in Lower Manhattan. And for the young ones, there is a Children’s day at the Seaport, where the children can do arts and crafts and see a great fireworks show.
